In the latest corporate breach headline, Action Fraud announced today that contact details for 2 million users of the second hand tech retail specialist CeX (https://uk.webuy.com/) have been stolen.
Basic details like these are bread and butter to fraudsters and con-artists, because they provide foundational information which lend authenticity when they reach out to make the initial contact.  The best advice to CeX customers is to change your password immediately - as CeX are apparently already advising - and be very wary of unsolicited or unexpected calls or other contact in future.
The question, these days, is not "are you paranoid?", but "are you paranoid enough?
